What i know about this chapter is the ability to identify the topic of a paragraph and main idea. What i want to know about it is how can you figure out and implied the main idea easier. What i learned in this chapter is the difference between general and specific ideas, identifying the topic of a paragraph, and finding the stated main idea of a paragraph. What i still want to know is there a way we can locate the topic sentence faster.

Reading as your thinking. read for meaning, trying to understand what your reading to make more sence. Highlighting could be one major hint to better yourself as you move on and try to review it all over again. Testing yourself while reading is also a good way to try and remember what your reading. Either by repeating the main ideas out loud or rewrite it. One of the strategies i use is that i go over the objective or questions before reading, to have an idea ahead of time. Five techniques that can help you are previewing, asking guide questions, reading for meaning, testing yourself, and reviewing.

Woodstove emit significant levels of particulates and carbon monoxide in addition to other pollutants, such as sulfur dioxide. Furnace Emissions, inadequate cleaning and maintaining can lead to a buildup of carbon monoxide in the home, which can be deadly. Asbestos, is a mineral that was commonly used in insulating materials in buildings constructed before 1970. Formaldehyde, A colorless, strong smelling gas presence in some carpets, draperies, furnitures particle. Exposure to formaldehyde can cause respiratory problems. Radon, is one of the more serious forms of indoor air pollution. it penetrates homes through cracks, pipes sump pits and other openings in the foundation. Is the second worst cancer in the world, lead by smoking as leader cause of lung cancer. And lastly Household Chemicals, avoiding buildup, cutting down dry cleaning, and avoid the household use of refreshner products containing the carcinogenic agent dichlosobenzene a deadly chemical. What i still want to know is there a way we can avoid using household products because we need them, when the house is smelling bad. What other products can we use.?

Chapter 3
Using Context Clues
This Chapter is about the five types of context clues, definition, synonym, example, contrast, and inference. You can use any of these context clues in your passage to make the reader understand what he/she is reading. Definition clues have three types of punctuation; commas, parentheses, dashes. Many writers defines a word immediately following its use. At other times, rather than formally define the word, a writer may provide a synonym- a word or brief phrase that is close in meaning. Writers often include examples that help to explain or clarify a word. Sometimes possible to determine the meaning of an unknown word from a word or phrase in the context that has an opposite meaning. Many times you can figure out the meaning of an unknown word by using logic and reasoning skills. The Type of context clue I prefer to use in my writing is example clues. To explain or clarify what I'm writing to readers and make them understand more.
Compulsive or Pathological gambling
Gambling is a very serious addiction, it is similar to drugs. Most people who gamble do so casually and moderately to experience the excitement of anticipating a win. Most gamblers are college students. gambling problems are more prevelant among men then women. It could be because of the increasingly popularity of poker. Some people gamble to have fun others gamble to get lucky and win.
